Non-Immigrant Visa Applicants

With effect from 1 August 2005 and following the recent Agreement
between the Consular Office of the United States Embassy in Addis Ababa
and the Bank of Abyssinia, Non-Immigrant visa applicants will be
required to submit their application forms and passports to the Bank of
Abyssinia branches (Raguel Branch at Addis Ketema near Saint Raguel
Church; Arada Branch at Piazza near Castelli Restaurant; and Urael
Branch on Haile Gebre-Sellasie Avenue). Upon application submission and
payment of application fee, applicants will receive official receipts
from the respective branches of the Bank.
All applicants are required to submit their application forms and
passports in a timely manner. If visa appointment at the Embassy is on
Monday, applicants are required to submit their application on or before
the preceding Thursday 4:30 p.m. If visa appointment at the Embassy is
on Wednesday, applicants are required to submit their application on or
before the preceding Monday 4:30 p.m. This requirement does not apply to
applicants with diplomatic status and high-ranking officials.
Non-immigrant visa applicants are required to pay a non-refundable
application fee of $100 plus $4 for application processing fee.
Each visa applicant must submit a color photograph with white background
taken within the last six months. The photograph must be a full face
looking straight at the camera and the face must cover about 50% of the
area of the photograph. No head coverings (hats, scarves, etc.), except
for religious purposes.
All applicants must provide passports with at least six (6) months
validity remaining.
All visa application forms will be available at the above-mentioned
three branches of the Bank of Abyssinia. All applicants are required to
fill DS-156, male applicants between the age of 14-45 DS-157, and all
students are required to fill DS-158.
